According to local history, the market's existence is due to King Rama IV, who ordered the construction of a 32 km long canal in 1866 to connect the Mae Klong and Tachine rivers. Gradually, the exceptional quality of the soil in the canal area led to flourishing agriculture in the district, which attracted huge demand from consumers of fresh vegetables and fruits.
